Welcome to the
Harvard Club of Italy

Dear Crimson friends,

It is a privilege to have been elected President of the Harvard Club of Italy — a responsibility I embrace with energy and deep gratitude.

As a first-generation graduate, I know firsthand what access to a world-class education can change.

It transforms trajectories, lives, and families.

That journey is rarely straightforward — it requires patience and resilience, constant navigation of new and sometimes complex environments, and sacrifices that often go unspoken: both those you make yourself, including financial ones, and those quietly made by the people who believed in you before you believed in yourself.

That experience has shaped my conviction that Harvard’s values — not only academic and professional excellence and intellectual rigor, but also a deep commitment to thought leadership and service to society — carry a special obligation: not simply to walk through doors, but to open them for others.

It is with this mindset that I step into this role, together with an exceptional Board. Our ambition is for the Club to truly and fully embody these values: as an active, influential, and cohesive community that brings the Harvard perspective into Italy’s academic, institutional, business, and cultural ecosystems.

Over the coming months, we will focus on the following priorities:

  • Strengthening our sense of belonging, so that every member and friend feels genuinely connected to this network;

  • Expanding our intellectual and professional programming, with high-quality events that foster dialogue and collaboration across professions and generations;

  • Deepening our ties with Harvard University and fellow clubs worldwide, enhancing the Club’s visibility and impact.

In an increasingly complex global environment, the Harvard network is an extraordinary asset — and we are committed to making it work more effectively for our members, friends, and for the broader Italian community.

Thank you to everyone who have supported and encouraged us along the way, and to the Harvard Alumni Association for its continued support.

The strength of the Club will be defined by the energy, ideas, and engagement of its members, friends, and all those who wish to join our conversations. We encourage you to take part, contribute, and help shape what comes next — the Harvard Club of Italy is indeed your Club.

Long live Veritas.

Ennio Alagia, LL.M. ’17
President
